I have a broken old metal link pipe, but it is larger diameter than the tank exit pipes, so i thought it was the wrong part.
Now having seen a car with one fitted it looks like the same larger size as mine.
This would mean the rubber hoses that connect the tanks to the link pipe, and the one that goes to the fuel pump would have to deal with a different size pipe at each end, is this correct?

Here is the metal link pipe, and it also mentions the 21A2332 special large bore petroflex hose that goes at each end.

Ok, so a larger bore hose to connect the tank to the link pipe? but the tank outlet is the same as all the hose fittings at the carb end of things???
Do you just do the hose clips up extra tight and hope the boot doesn't fill up with BP Ultimate?

Re: Twin tanks link pipe

James,
I had the same issue!
Those 5/16 dia hose and 1/4 dia hose all mixed up but have to squeeze the metal pipe to fit!

Not a good practice, but that is Mini!

My dash vinyl had the same trouble, order 3 rolls since 2005 till now all had different grain, the one from Newton had best effect- qualtity and gron, but NLA now!

Your 970s looks great!

OK, so any ideas why they didn't use the same guage 1/4 metal pipe as the carb link pipe???

Hi James,
My guess would be that the fuel line from from the tanks to the engine was increased to counter the reduction in flow as a result of the distance. The 5/16" pipe of that length will probably flow no more than a short length of 1/4". Also, bear in mind there are 2 x 1/4" pipes, one on each tank.
