Used to tape 3 hacksaw blades together to re-cut the centre grove on my fizzy, back then a moped just had to have visible tread

Ditto, had an SS50 with a 70cc head and barrel - moped racing, feet on the rack and body flat on the tank, those were the days

And my kids wonder why I wouldn`t let them have mopeds.....

Last year I grooved a notch in my 13" rally tyres so they'd clear the trailing arm bracket...didn't use one of those, though! :D

I had an unrestricted AP50 that was an import so had pegs not pedals. Had 64 out of it down the A1 once, though it ate piston rings on a bi weekly basis.

Agreed with the Mrs I wouldn’t have a bike while the kids were young, and kept my old Lambretta hidden away for years.

Had some great times on bikes but looking back we were lucky to escape unscathed.

I have a KTM 525 exc buried in the garage, last used just after kids were born 15 years ago i think. I might see if I can get it running again after all this talk, sparked old interests, got the bug :D

These were a bit after my time but I do remember them buzzing around the roads back in the day and saw this run of FS1E enthusiasts parked up on Madeira Drive in Brighton.

Liked the AP, mate of mine had earlier version, the A50, cut back disk valve, spanny etc….and that really did get close to 70MPH….

Coming off was just a way of life, different world though, less traffic, people driving not texting…….also pocket full of spark plugs to swap over
