Cable Route

Post by Mr Rusty850 »

Hi all. Quick question. I'm fitting a new loom to a 1961 mini with a floor start switch. Just struggling to work out the route of the single brown wire that runs from the starter switch to the voltage control regulator. The run from the voltage regulator until it exits the main loom near the back of the speedo is clear enough but which way does it go then? It's sleeved from the point at which it leaves the loom.
Thanks,
Barry

Hi Barry,

Sorry I don’t have any pictures to guide you, but after recently replacing my loom I believe that it goes down the hole behind the speedo underneath the lower dash rail alongside the wires for the switch panel, etc.

Then run it down the toe board to a hole that should be inline, but just above where the headlight foot operated dip switch sits.

The cable passes through here, where it goes from inside the vehicle to the outside.

From there on, it should be smooth sailing as you follow a nice route using the available metal tabs to hold it neatly in place until it reaches the floor starter switch.

It connects to the furthest terminal of the floor starter switch, closest to the boot and shares the terminal with the battery live feed.

Hope this helps :)

Thank you. That all makes perfect sense.
