Mini Front Brakes
How difficult is it to change the Front brake backplates with the single brake cylinder to Backplates with Twin brake cylinders. Obviously the shoes are wider and different drums, how expensive would it be. Don't want discs as trying to keep it original as possible, although I know 1960 mini didn't have twin cylinders, but it's closer to original than discs would be, thanks Gordon.

In my memory the three fixing screws for the backplates are the Same.
All you need are the two cylinders per side: GWC126/127, connecting line, a set of retaining springs, new Bakeshoes and appropriate Drums.
If you would life not far from me you could pickup these parts for free...

As already identified, you'll need both LH and RH versions of all the parts between the hub and the drive flange. You'll also likely need to change your rear wheel cylinders and possibly the rear valve. You'll want to check the bore size of your master cylinder is best suited to the set up too as some of the early cars if I recall had a smaller bore, which you may actually like, it will give a lighter but longer pedal.
For general motoring, drums up front are perfectly fine, they are good brakes, just high in maintenance and can be a bit of a chore to balance up.

I started a project to mount 8.4 disc cut down to 7.5 on 8.4 drive flanges and drum brake hubs using S CVs and Wilwood two piston alloy calipers. By mounting the calipers in lathe and cutting the over all radius they worked great. I contacted Wilwood about having a batch calipers made to my needs. The answer was no, As I was working on the project I bought as many twin leading brake assemblies as I could find. I have found it not practical to ship brake parts over seas. I have a few sets in as removed condition I'll gladly sell state side. Steve (CTR)
