Windscreen Aerial

Post by 111Robin »

Is anyone using an internal windscreen aerial ?. I want to try one but only if they are actually any use. I know a modern setup connected to my phone would be better but I just want to try it for FM reception, I'm not looking for amazing sound quality, I have a nice period radio and just want it to work as it would have originally.

I've had one in my Traveller since I restored it 15 years ago. It seems to work fine but I've only done local radio reception.

I've used them for FM before and the worked OK. Unfortunatly I don't have one kicking around to lend you.

Thanks, they are pretty cheap so worth a punt, I'm guessing quality won't be brilliant but my expectations are low so I won't be too disappointed if it's a waste of time.

I've been using one for about 15 years, and it works fine.
Small black box with a thin black strip either side (abput 9" overall length at a guess) which I've put next to the windscreen seal on the passenger side so I can't really see it.
Metric is for people who can't do fractions.

Does it have a signal amplifier incorporated?. That's the type I'm looking at, 12v feed to power the amp.

Probably, as it has a discrete green LED that comes on when it's powered up.

Thanks, I'll try one of these, I'm used to poor FM reception up here so it doesn't need to be perfect, just period crackly!.
