panel identification
hope someone can help
i have had this wing in my loft for the past 8-9 years, it came out of a old garage clear out i did up in W1 in london
i am not sure what car its from????????, when i got this wing, i also got a mk2 escort wing which i have already sold
what is confusing me, someone has put a sticker on it and written ford escort van wing, but there is a layland sticker with a part number which look original
to me it looks like a escort or capri wing
so if any of you knowledgeable people out there shed some light it would be great, i need to sell it but first i need to know what car its from
thanks for you help

did they make them in different profiles for the mk2 wings for differnet models
http://www.newfordpartsonline.co.uk/ind ... rod_detail

Re: panel identification
Sorry to throw a spanner in the works guys but that is not a Cortina wing, i have been restoring classics for over 20 years now and in that time i have fitted a few of those...this is a Dolomite wing and they go for very good money!

Quite true Dean, but Ford panels don`t usually have Leyland stickers on them put it on ebay and you should get a good price for it.

Re: panel identification
cooperman i think i should of listened to you again.
went on the club triumph site, there was a bloke on therejust last mouth asking of a LH wing. so i joined the forum and offered it to him via PM, plus we only lives 25 miles away,
he did not want to pay any more than £50 for it, aftermarket fiberglass wings sell at £90 new
so i put it on there main website, the same bloke who is a moderator, said it has to go in the classifed in there mouthly newsletter for £10 for a 35 word ad, and deleted my post
seem like a very clicky club,
if someone come on here selling NOS parts i think people would be bitting his arm off
looks like the dolomite seen is very quite
as cooperman said put it on ebay. which i am going to do
there is one on the at the moment,it did not sell at £175, reduced to £125, but the bloke does not know if its genuine or not, fiberglass ones are on there at £50
lets see what happens,

Re: panel identification
Sounds like the bloke is upset with you not accepting his p**s-take offer of fifty quid to me, so deleted the post so no-one else could snap it up.
Rimmer Brothers list it as NLA in steel and as you say the plastic version is nearly a hundred quid so must be worth that at the least.

Re: panel identification
good post this, its suprising how some people value panels that are nla, £50 !!!! it would have served that man right if youd have taken a hammer to it and then told him a fiver , mk 1 ford mex wings were changing hands for over a grand ,like hens teeth, hadrian panels now re- manufacture them which has knocked the arse out of the price, BUT full on purist escort people will still pay the premium for a genuine panel , like has been said £90 for a grp panel, has to make your metal one worth well over that , at least it will be more like the correct shape !

Re: panel identification
Hi Dean, glad you didn`t fall for that blokes pathetic offer, those wings fetch really good money, you would be daft to give it away too cheap, and yes i have had dealings with the Dolomite lot in the past and some of them are a bit `clicky` but there are a few decent guys out there into their Triumphs and i`m sure one of them would be very happy to get his hands on a genuine BL wing, any rare genuine panel will fetch good money, i have had to pay upwards of £175 for genuine Marina wings, Dolly wings often fetch £200+!
Stick to your guns mate, think of all the Mini bits you could buy with that

Re: panel identification
There's a nos offside wing on Classiccarsforsale.co.uk for £350.00 !!!
Ok, the seller could be chancing his arm and maybe the offside is more difficult to find than a near side, but I shouldn't think it would make THAT much difference.
It is worth what someone wants to pay for it but I for one would not give it away, it will only get rarer and Dolly Sprints are quite desirable. I'd quite like one - just a shame there are no tax exempt ones.

Re: panel identification
Well it's on eBay started at 99p reserve set to £150. I think that's a fair price. Rimmer bro like Andrew states are NLA but have a price next to it of £250
In the space of 2 hours after i listed it , I had 5 bids , 4 bidders which has taken it up to £77 and 1 person asking if I can add a buy it now. And 15 watchers.
And there is still 6 day left
I was very tempted to have a dig at the bloke from the triumph club in my listing. But kept my listing clean
I think I did piss him off with not excepting his offer, as he was all keen when I offered it to him Untill I said no that's not enough.
Fingers crossed it will reach my reserve
