Can anyone help?
I have just recently bought a basket case 1071 mk1 mini cooper S. It came with boxes of engine parts etc.
The block is genuine but during the rebuild it was found that the crankshaft was from a 970 S.
What I am looking for is a 1071 crankshaft that is in useable condition.
If anyone can help, that would be great.
Regards,
James.

Re: 1071 crankshaft.
Did you happen to end up with the 970 rods as well? I know someone here in the states with a couple 1071 short blocks. I have yet to get a price from him. Steve (CTR)

Re: 1071 crankshaft.
Steve,
The 1070 block is correct. The rods are also correct. The problem is the 970S crankshaft which as you know is wrong.
Still looking for a good 1070 crankshaft.
If there is anyone out there with a 1070 crankshaft, I would be most grateful if they could get in touch.
Regards,
Jim.

Not sure if the seller is genuine, I did try and have a chat about the 1071 engine a few months back and went nowhere.

Re: 1071 crankshaft.
I ask about rods in case 970 rods got in with the wrong crank. I have a 970 crank, but the search for correct rods has turned up nothing. As much as I'd like to make an offer on three 1071 short blocks, that is not the direction I'm heading. Steve (CTR)

Not sure where you’re based, but if you’re in the U.K., I did spot this come up on eBay. It’s on STD/STD which is a quite a rare thing in itself!

Unfortunately it’s not my item, so I don’t have any further information to give but hope it helps nonetheless.
Good luck!
