Re: Very Nice
How amazing. There's a picture of it on page 233 of Pressnell. That could be another project to rival John's beautiful beach car.

It has an S engine and the FE number is still attached to the rad shroud.
I like the steering wheel.

Re: Very Nice
oooh, that is nice! My pal Edward recently sold a 'Zimp' through his 'Historics at Brooklands' auctions. must ask him what it made.
Surely Jeroen will know someone who'll buy this?

Re: Very Nice
I was thinking that it would be the perfect business vehicle for Jeroen.

Reading about it, it looks like Jeroen has seen this car. What do people reckon it will fetch?

Re: Very Nice
It's got an S motor now and 3 1/2" S rims but didn't when built in 1961 obviously. Did it have a 997 originally or an 850 ? Apparently the dealer selling it wants too much money for Jeroen, though it's his dream car by all accounts :

Re: Very Nice
I just saw this today, and I absolutely love it.
It would look great next to the Beach car.... They are both unique Minis made in 1961.

Re: Very Nice
The book on mini derivatives says a tuned 998 motor with Dellorto carbs, but presumably would have been a 997 in 1961.

Re: Very Nice
Thats nice, but as Jeroen pointed out, real shame they seem to have sandblasted the fragile Alloy panel work

Re: Very Nice
Who could be so cruel an sandblast a one-of alloy panel?
The styling is very similar to the Zimp (Zagato Imp)
2 out of the 3 Zimps built are for sale. one in Japan and the other is going to be auctioned in the UK.

One of them previously sold for 26.000 GBP

Re: Very Nice
If that early MK1 is "worth" £40,000 I hate to think what this is worth.
It is for my money a MUCH more interesting car though.

Re: Very Nice
In my experience, Zagato collectors tend to have deep pockets.
It's worth a lot more than the Imp based ones I should think, (though they are somewhat better known).
I could see this sharing garage space with other exotice of the same period. imagine it sitting next to your DB4 Zagato, restored to match?
