Mk I Austin Mini Countryman - Rear Seat Upholstery

Post by Hunter2 »

SEEKING HELP regarding reassembly of Countryman rear seat using all NEW Newton Comm bits and NEW 5/16" Baltic Birch Plywood.

The SEAT instructions/photos on Newton's site DO NOT MATCH the 2 rear seats I disassembled. Both had the heavy U-channel beam on which the seat bottom pivots to the upright position.

Hey Rich. What do you need to know? On my Traveller only the seat bottom has the I-beam. The seat back attaches to the load bay area by 2 hinges. Now that I have your attention, as an aside explain to me what happened to Steve Edwardes.

Rich, I agree with Larry. Just did my 61 countryman rear seat and the I-beam is only on the seat bottom at the front edge. It supports the bottom when in the sitting position and when it folded up it supports the seat back when the back is folded down. I also used all new Newton comm. cushions but was able to reuse both plywood pieces.
Hope this helps
Mike
