Reverse rims and 7.5" Cooper discs
I am about to convert the drum brakes to discs and fit spacered drums on the rear of my Mini. It is fitted with the Dunlop LP918 reverse rims and I am trying to establish if I can run these after the conversion without wheel arches until I can source 10" wheels that wouldn't stick out too far. I would appreciate it if anyone could post photos of Mini(s) with this setup showing how much the LP918's will stick out. I believe there would be the same issue with Dunlop D1s which I would like to have gone for?

On the rear you will need standard drums. I had reverse rims on my Cooper and swapped the spacered drums for standard ones as they were beyond the body. Similarly the D1s are fine with standard drums. They are also fine on the Cooper 7" disc setup, not sure if they fit 7.5". I had slim stick on weights on the inside and they were hitting the calipers.

Not sure if it helps, both are on standard drums.

Coopers with 7” discs and drum brakes were an inch narrower than Ss. So your reverse rims will sit an inch further out with 7 1/2” discs (and spaced S type drums)…

Sorry I haven`t got a picture but I have just come back from a car show and there was a mk3 on S discs , LP918`s and 165`s and it looked terrible in my eyes.
Some get away with it using 145`s but unless you`re going for the sporting/boy racer look it kind of ruins it for me but I`m sure others will disagree

Thanks for everyone's feedback and in particular abs. It looks as though I will need to source some LP883 originals or Minispare's repro's. My budget won't run to Rose Petals (even the repro's). I have a set of original LP882's but I'm not so keen on the look.

On the other hand Cabrio, you could use standard rebuilt Cooper discs (don't listen to the doom mongers.....) and your rev rim vented 4.5's OR those D1's and it'll look and fit perfectly with nothing outside the car-line.
I've had them on a couple of Coopers in the past

Reverse rims, with 7.5 cooper discs, non spacered drums on rear (with 5mm spacer). Hilos and negative camber arms.
Hope it helps!

Just a thought maybe you could see if anyone wants to trade their lp883 for lp882
Times money and I'm always short of both

Personally I prefer your 'budget' choice of wheel...since being reproduced by various companies I think Rosepetals have peaked and perhaps become just a bit too common....cabrio1275 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 21, 2024 4:04 pm Thanks for everyone's feedback and in particular abs. Reverse rims with S running gear have far to much offset and destroy the handling of a mini I've found over the years .
