Any suggestions to reduce or eliminate squeal from the front brakes? The anti squeal shim has long been NLA.

You’re not using EBC pads by any chance? If so that’s your problem.

We used to smear coppa-slip over the rear of the pads. It damps the vibrations that cause the squealing. Probably not as effective as the anti-squueal pads suggested above

Yea I have got some EBC blackstuff pads in there at the moment but I’ve just obtained some NOS Mintex ones with the bad stuff in them and wanted to see if there’s something I can do to combat the squeal before giving those a try out.
Peter, these pads had already had a good smear of coppaslip but recently they’ve got really irritating.
Didn’t know about these pads that have been suggested, how do they work, just cut to size?

I have NOS Lockheed asbestos pads in. Comment from the local Mini specialist after driving it, ‘brakes are good aren’t they!’

Not impossible to make your own Pad backing shims .. take a knackered Stainless Steel Bread Bin from the Kitchen & the shell of the bread bin is made out of thin stainless ideal to make your shims .. ok expensive solution as you will need to buy her indoors a new Bread Bin

The sides of the microwave oven are also a good source of a few bits of stainless steel sheet material
Don't forget that any shims you make must be dead flat and not have any springiness in them.
If they do, they might negate the action of the slipper seals that withdraw the pistons a few .000" that allows the pads to draw away from the disc.
Technical and a bit nerdy, I know but just a reminder

My green stiff pads came with some 3m stick on pads. I just cut them to size. I haven’t had any strange noises
