IMM 2025 Great Britain Mini Meeting

Post by UHR850 »

 At last the IMM 2025 will be held again in the UK, but unfortunately the entry price will be £160,= pounds. What do you think of that skyhey price, will you go or have you also to think very hard about that.

If "we" from the mainland will come, there is not so much money left to but meals and a Tshirt. The ferry is also to become very expensive and the last thing is BREXIT. We have to buy a passport, ouwer tourist cart is not good enough anymore.

What's going on people, am I missing something or is it only me with these thoughts 🙄

Also questions were being asked about availability of 'day tickets'

Quote:
"Due to popular demand we are now looking to see if we can arrange car parking to allow Sunday tickets to be sold. So I'm sure there will be Sunday tickets in due course."

I have always needed to show a UK passport when crossing the channel by Eurotunnel or ferry to visit or return from France, even pre-BREXIT.....so what is a tourist cart?

before brexit you could travel with your ID card.
Now you need a passport.

But this is not a problem, as you need it for any countries outside the eu

Ha, ha, VERY good advice :)

I have made my feelings about the IMM very clear before & I was taken to task by some members for my negative viewpoint. So, I'm saying now't.

I won't be going wither, but............

Anyone with a mini coming for the IMM in need of help or assistance in and around the Oxford area can call on me and between us, we can certainly cure or solve most mechanical problems. Can speak German (but not French or Dutch I'm afraid)

At least it is the South East so relatively easy to get to once in the UK? I love the event but probably wouldn't bring a mini that far (from Wales) I admit ;-)

A tourist card is an ID card in the same size as a Creditcard. Now I have to pay 70 Euro for almost the same ID but now called Pass Port. Next 160 pounds for the IMM and money for the channel crossing. Eating and drinking, buying thing (parts) to take home and patrol to feed my Mini aswell.

Oke enough of this no more complaning will see next year what to do.

Having driven 2 days in the driving rain to the IMM in Germany this month and then spending 30 euros each on a day ticket (I didn't have time for the full weekend pass and was going to see friends who live in the next town over) I'm not remotely surprised at the entry price for next year's event. I think this year in Germany was 110 euros for the full weekend as well.. Yes 160 GBP is more than that, but what hasn't gone up in price? Just look at entry fees for rallies these days!

As for needing a passport, that's travel for you. But nobody is forcing you to go, as I understand it they really struggled to find anyone who wanted to take over the baton of organising next year's event at all.
Of course I know what a dipstick is, you get called something often enough you look it up!

You Guys are just spoiled...

Cost me a lot more to visit my last IMM (in 1989!!).

Try 126UKP for 2 visas to visit Turkey ..for 3 days. And we've already paid for Passports.

You should get out more...

Cheers, Ian

Having been quite involved in the 2009 event at Longbridge, is it me or is there a lack of identification of organising club? Just asking out of interest as the website is quite "coy."

The organising club mentioned in a recent MiniWorld feature on the IMM 2025 is the 'Mini Cooper Club' which was founded by Ray Holman back in 1979. As someone who attended the first MCC meetings at the Cat Inn in West Hoathly, Sussex back in the day, I was quite surprised to hear the MCC still existed bearing in mind much of the original membership transferred over to the 'Mini Cooper Register' along with the annual Beaulieu Mini Day in 1986.

Have never been, I am not sure why I would want to go, the website is hopeless and tells you nothing, especially why you might want to part with £160 quid……

If you're after rare parts it can be a real goldmine. I've found bits for my Inno at this years IMM I have been scouring the internet for for years and years. You also get to meet up with a load of like-minded folk and see all the weird and wonderful things people do with Minis. This year I also spent some time chatting with Rauno Aaltonen, not that I'd pay for that specifically but it's nice you can bump into people like that there as well.

I wrote a small article for Octane magazine about it this year but sadly it was for our local version so it's in Dutch...

I is very logical there where a lot of Inno Cooper parts at the IMM in Germany,
this type was sold over there, in the Netherlands and Belgium aswell in the 70th.
There where also a lot of Italian traders with very nice Innocenti Mini (Cooper) parts.
