Hi all, I’m gonna be a bit dumber now! Mini now running after a fashion but is very rich with black sooty plugs ( N9c) Is weakening of the mixture achieved by turning the jet nut towards the carb body, ie: upwards against the big spring? Carb is fully rebuilt std HS2.

Jet up = leaner
And this will make the mixture leaner across the entire RPM and load range
You should only use the mixture nut to adjust the idle setting. The needle, spring and damper oil are used to set proper fueling across the rpm and load range of the engine
