My '74 Cooper got lumped in that group too :D . I don't think there is much incentive for owners who use their cars on a regular basis to go up against trailer trophy hunters...but I suppose that is the nature of Concours.

I did look at it. For £30K, I'd have wanted the doors to be flush with the body when closed. MK3 rear window seals, maybe because they are better -dunno. Electric windscreen washers, the front close panel has already been discussed and looks dreadful. Shame to spoil the car.

Overheard a Concours 2024 Judge saying he was looking for originality.. perhaps he should be looking at the quality of the bodyshell repair welds

am i alone in thinking MCR Beaulieu has lost its sparkle in the past few years

As I mentioned in an earlier post . The mk1 S replicas were down in numbers and the modified classes were up on entrants. It may change next year ? .

The general atmosphere was missing for me. I wish they would separate the car parking again… that used to be the main event for me but it’s difficult to appreciate the classics when they interspersed between the MINIs and vice versa I would add. There were some lovely early R53s

The old sparkle wasn’t there but equally getting volunteers to help is a mighty task
Cheers

It is what we make of it. I enjoyed it, agree parking should be segregated.

I have to say that for me it was a great day, not least because of the purchase of a few more rare bits and bobs for my cars ;-)

Couldn't agree more. I used to help out in the old days, and everyone liked to keep the types apart.

Agree with Amp above too. The late Steve Smith who along with a merry band of Southern based helpers who organised several years worth f Beaulieu mini events told me of the troubles with parking.........

The trouble would be that a few minis would arrive together and all would want to park together. So far, so good. But they'd be different mark/types, with different parking for different types. Say, Mk1's, Mk2's, Coopers and "S"s....., you get my - or his - drift!

The car park attendants would try to direct but some wouldn't have it and parked where their mates were, and so on. It drove him and his happy band to total distraction

Totally agree the "general parking" idea for me isnt working, there was always a pecking order, with the works cars up the front and the various marks together, would like to see that again, although I can understand that it wasnt easy to sort out!

Lovely car, liked the lighting harness!

It would be good if you did some project threads, you’re always turning out excellent cars!
