It'll be a nice Winter project to sort out, I'm looking for some walnut veneer or panels to try out a few ideas and I'll be fitting a stereo in somewhere too ;)

Been a while since I've looked at my thread .. great picture of HOY at Beaulieu and thanks for the post Roger :)

That's quick work Nidge. I'm really pleased that the dash is going to be used again and yes Richard, you're right, I'm not brave enough :o

Keep us posted 8-)

As for HOY, it hasn't been out since Beaulieu. Have the horrible task of changing the speedo pinion drive as I think the nylon gear is spinning on the shaft :(

hi andrew
what a pain those nylon gears can be when we got our laser the speedo was very unusual in that it would go so far and then waver all over the speedo on investigating i found the cable was broken what a job replacing it was the assembled the car around it
but after laying upside down in the drivers seat it was done
cheers roger
some more parts are arriving soon so might do a bit to the mini by the time it is finished there will not be any petrol to run it as our government want us to go all electric how we will charge them will be intersting we are lead by fools and imberciles we can conserve anything here except water :?: :?:
greens always stop any dams

Been a while since I have driven HOY but as its a nice day today, I decided to give it a run out.

Good news is the speedo is behaving itself so don't have to do that horrible job !!

Drives really well and love the hydro suspension.

Hi Roger, yes HOY is still alive and well.

Took it to a local show today .. got lots of attention as you can imagine ! parked next to my Dad's lovely 18/85 Landcrab.

Excuse the photo quality, my phone camera lens is scratched !

I saw a black tulip 1971K Austin 1800 Mark III at a show yesterday. A very clean car, up for £4000 which seems very reasonable.

Apart from the heavy steering on non PAS cars the 1800 is a superb thing that should have sold better. The ride and interior space is a complete contrast to modern junk. The Wolseley looks to be either Limeflower or Harvest gold.

They are a very underrated car .. as you say loads of room (especially for rear seat passengers) and a superb ride.

Only issue with the power steering on these cars is that they don't work that well when stationary as its driven off the dynamo.

The car is indeed Limeflower with a matching interior .. including the original veltone carpets 8-)

When I was a older teenager "a very strange person from Wales" was working in our area and visited one of our local motor club nights and suggested we might like to go for a run through the local Essex lanes in his Landcrab. 5 up and what an adventure for me as a youngster. I quote "Hold tight it handles just like a Mini" - not sure quite how long he had been driving the local roads but I still remember that trip. Sadly I can't remember the guy's name.
