My sister has just produced this tool roll for me, I'm very pleased with it.
I'm wondering if there is a market out there for her produce?
There are none for sale at the moment, but I just wondered if anyone else was interested in having one and what they'd be prepared to pay.
Let me have your thought.
BTW.. the tools aren't included!
TIA, G.

It looks very nice, but perhaps you need to look at this the other way. Cost of Materials + Cost of Labour + cost of overheads + required margin and offer at that. People will simply not imagine what that actually costs to make - but will pay what you ask (within boundaries).
Following the last thread on this a few weeks ago, I went looking for suitable material, and found a very close match to the BMC item of impregnated burlap, very competitively priced for a short roll. But manufactured in India. I simply did not find anything suitable in europe..

I like the idea of an anti rattle tool box, but then you need pliers, screwdrivers, brake adjust spanner and a few more besides. However I would congratulate your sister on her work.
Whilst on the subject, where do you keep your tool box (so to speak), with the spare tyre - difficult to get to if the boot is loaded; on top of the boot carpet - takes up valuable "cargo" space or under the back seat with a special tapered box.
What spares do you take around with you on a day to day basis?
Bob

Re: Repro tool roll.
Thanks for your comment Bob46320. this was a prototype and the pliers I had with me were to large to fit and I couldn't lay my hands on the brake adjuster!
My tool roll sits on top of the spare wheel and as I only take my 1960 mini out on high days and holidays it is never really fully loaded.
As for additional tools and spares I don't carry any as being mechanically inept I would be able to utilise them!!!
Where in SW France are you? We've holidayed all around France since the 1980's, starting at 4 weeks and more recently (since retiring) 8 - 10 weeks at a time, but always migrate back to the Vendee coast.
Thanks again, G.

Re: Repro tool roll.
Talking of tool rolls..... My friend locally has a 1600GT Mk1 Cortina that spends many weeks in Europe during the Summer. He says that he only takes the tools etc that he can fit into the spare wheel well - including the jack!
I have taken his advice on board and do the same with my Rover Cooper Sport - including a small bottle jack and two-part handle and the all important nylon tow rope. An important PLUS with a Rover car on a day run to Dusseldorf. All wrapped up in an old hand towel.
A philips and flat blade screwdriver, pliers and side cutters, short length of cable, roll of tape and a bit of petrol hose. And don't forget, a small bag of cable ties in the glove box. Ain't needed any of it.........yet!

Re: Repro tool roll.
Good question Gary. I don't know the make but it came from an accessory shop or Halfords a few years ago now. It will only fit under the highest part of the front sub frame with a bit of wood to protect the sub frame. Same as at the rear. Not the best......., but convenient and better than the standard side lift jack I feel
