Hi,
As per the title, I am looking to adjust (backwards) the drivers seat in my August 60 Austin Seven.
There are adjuster plates for later models but none for the tubular seat frame early 59/60 minis.
Has anyone out there done this on the early tubular seat frames and how?
Thanks in anticipation.
G.
Has anyone fitted drivers seat adjusters to a 59/60?

Hi Chapmag, interesting question. I'm not familiar with how the seats were fitted back then. Could you provide photos of the situation? Cheers, Doug.

"All 1959 and 60 cars have these fixed welded on front seat mounts on the cross member. They go with tubular seat frames."
"A photo showing the early de-luxe tubular seat frame with adjuster."

Hi, I've never seen that before. If it were me, I'd make 4 plates, 2 for each leg, and fit them outside the existing brackets an fix them through the existing bolt hole. It means you can keep the car and seats original. Unfortunately due to the bend in the leg, the front of the seat is going to have to be raised slightly. See sketch. I'd make them from quarter inch aluminium plate as it's easy to work with. You'll need spacers to keep the leg centred to stop it fouling the original bracket.
Cheers, Doug.
