without doubt any early mini needs the sucker onto the windscreen to cut out vibration & the BMC designed three hole securing bracket is the best solution.. i have tried another e-bay 3 Hole Mirror Bracket with fixed stem & that did not have enough mirror stem clearance onto the inner Windscreen.. we all need Gordon onto this subject can anyone give him a nudge to increase his range of excellent items ;)

That looks like a "Barnacle" sucker.

This is how it’s looks with the correct Mini bracket and black stem sucker!

Dont mean to come across as rude, but why is this “correct”?

I'm here :D , just had a few manic days. The triangular bracket is pretty straight forward. Doc's method is good and solid, but you need to have a 1/4 die to thread the stem. The adjustable style is more easier to fit at home, just a bigger pain to make my end. The support to the windscreen should be pretty easy to sort, either with one of the black ends if they are still available or an adapter for a clear one

Anyone got an old mirror they could send me to play about with. Doubt I will be able to do anything for a couple of weeks though as trying to get sorted for Bingley

Cheers Gordon

Just had a look at mine, many options for this out there but here's another.

Mine has no sucker and appears to have a cast bracket which provides a very rigid mirror support helped by a short mirror stem.
This was fitted a very long time ago so not sure where the arrangement may have been copied from.

Gordon ..Good Job.. can i suggest that your final package comes with a set of the 3 x Countersunk Screws and also the Windscreen Sucker.. for the reason that i always loose one of those cant rail screws or drop them into oblivion .

Consideration .. i seem to remember ( maybe) :? the Rear Mirror securing Threads are supplied as a sliding caged nut on a mk1 shell & some other shells have a fixed 3x Tapped hole in the cant rail .. just a thought as "IF" there needs to be some tolerance in aligning the bracket screw holes to the Threads?
Q can any on here advise if this is correct ? ..or have i lost the plot again .
