Don't see many in the genuine "used" condition any more! 8-)

It does doesn't it....may be mis-remembering it, but think I saw it at Goodwood MM (in the carpark) a few years ago.

So good to see it being used, for what looks like a bit of shopping :D

I saw it at Beaulieu a couple of years ago and thought it looked a bit rough. That was before the days of '.....lovely patina for its age....' so beloved by car salesmen

Personally, I'd rather see one like the example above than another anodyne "same as all the others" shiny, straight out of the box restoration.

Me too!

It's also much harder to find a car like this which has just the right amount of exterior and interior wear and tear (patina?) to look good but also be usable and structurally sound/up to safe MOT standards (even though exempt). Once any kind of restoration is attempted sadly it nearly always ends up with all the time worn genuine history and period mods being swept away in the process.
Not such an issue when you have a complete basket case 'barn find' needing a total ground up restoration to start with. Minis like this (especially a Mk1 S) at shows like Beaulieu will nearly always have a far bigger crowd of enthusiasts around them all day, than the shiny, straight out of the box restorations lined up in the concours display areas. Plus a brand new Newton interior can look good but never has that genuine nostalgic smell of a 1960's Mini when you open the door!

100% agreement.

The pessimist in me expects, that it will be "put right" into concours condition by its next owner.
Yes I am a nerd: I am researching the Austrian Mini-racing scene of the 60s and 70s :ugeek:

Lovely that, Dave.
The ‘double Nelson’ plate certainly rings a bell.

It was at Gaydon. Left it's mark on the tarmac!

A new V5C issued last year maybe suggests a change of owner.
CDO 222C
Date of last V5C (logbook) issued 24 August 2023

Not at all!

Although my preference is for crusty cars, most of the ones I own are pretty much freshly restored too.

All MK1's are very welcome at Blyton :)

Only joking! I told the paint guy I didn't want it too shiney but fell on deaf ears. Mine's a bitsa anyway built up from 50 years of hoarding.
