Pride of Longbridge 2012 Pictures

Post by surfblue63 »

I've just spent the last few days putting a few more miles on my '63 Austin with a trip down south.

Image

On Saturday I took part in the run from Cowley to The Pride of Longbridge event. The run, which was organised by Tanya Field, was excellent. With some 40 odd cars, of varing types, assembled at the MINI works in Cowley the day got off to a great start.

Image

The route took the cars on the old trunk roads to Longbridge, and after a couple of hours and one detour (I missed a left turn whilst following an SD1), I got to Crofton Park. After being directed to the alloted parking area for the run participants it was time to take in all the cars that were present.
The majority of vehicles on display were Rovers and MGs of the '90's and '00's, but it was great to see pristne, and not so pristine, examples of the product of BMC and BL from the '50's, '60's and '70's.

There was a great selection of Minis

Lovely photos. The opening dash pic is stunning.

What's your camera gear?

All these pics were taken using my Fuji Finepix S200 EXR. It's one of those bridge type cameras that looks like an SLR but isn't. I have it set in manual mode and adjust the ISO and shutter speed to get the exposures right.

The dash shot was done by resting the camera on the passenger seat. It took a cople of shots and a bit of cropping to get the final image. It would be better if it showed the key fob, perhaps next time.

;) Steady on Boys...i`ve got a TC Convertible in the Garage, don`t knock what you haven`t driven they are nicer to drive than you might think, ok so they don`t corner like a Mini but then again, what does! ;) , quick bit of geek info for the uneducated...they made about 35 Mumford Convertibles from a design by Crayfords (who incidentally designed the Mini Convertible), we reckon there are about 16 Marina rag tops left so you could say they are a bit rare  .

something not everyone might know

the 1300 marina coupe had an S type distributor, the very early ones had the same type of points as the mini, the points with the nut securing the condenser wire.

The later coupes had the same type of distributor no vac advance but took the later type points.

The TC's with the 1800 engine were reasonably fast, but very unstable as mentioned.

The clubman an estate looks like a really good example
