Is it me? Position of oil cooler and strengthening bracket - any opinions?
This is pre standardisation of oil coolers. Most Ss with a cooler fitted pre 66 would most likely have been fitted with an aftermarket cooler, like this one, probably Serck.

We had an entire thread discussing this photo many moons ago on a long lost vintage version of this forum! I think it was BRM (Graham Hill) and Coopers (GPH 1C) practicing for the 1965 British GP at Silverstone. Would love to find some more pics of Minty at this same race.

Not really period, I spotted this while walking between jobs in London last week.

Wow....., look at all those medal ribbons. A lot of wartime air-crew there. Looks like the girl in the photo has been photo-shopped (or whatever it was called in them old days...) to fit her in.

I wouldn't mind betting that the minis were RAF issue minis. The Army used to use their issue minis too - almost always Austins - but for certain events the cars had to be civil registered especially if they were competing abroad, such as Germany. Easy to do then. And cheap too. If it breaks, the fitters fix it!

On location filming of the TV comedy 'Butterflies' (BBC 1978-1983) with Wendy Craig and the early Morris Mini that featured as her car in the series.
Exterior shots for the Parkinson family house were filmed at 30 Bournside Road in Up Hatherley, Cheltenham.

As the weather's turning chilly for us Brits here's a nostalgic photo of one of the launch press vehicles out for a ride. Somewhere near Harewood by the looks of things.

Nice to see that fanciable Wendy Craig again. I always liked her hair style. Wasn't she married to a dentist in the series...?

The Mini was scrapped just after the series ended.

Butterflies was the best thing Carla Lane ever did - the casting was spot on. Only Wendy Craig (nearly 90) and Nicholas Lyndhurst are still with us now.

Geoffrey Palmer as Ria's husband was magnificent. The whole thing stands up as well as it ever did.

Thought I exclusively share some of my recent discoveries with you lot. I had a chat with Rudi Kronfues - former PR-Manager at Austin Stahl in Vienna, Team-Manager of their Mini-Racing Team (Fritz Baumgartner, Lambert "Lammy" Hofer and Hubert Hofmann-Credner. Also happened to be the main organiser and financial director, along Erich Glavitza, of the stunt driving in the James Bond film "On Her Majesty’s Secret Service". Let alone he was a talented Rallye and Rally-Cross driver - in a Mini of course.

The stunt crew, who doubled for Tracy (Erich Glavitza or Willi Neuner), Blofield (Rudi Kronfues) and Bond (Peter Huber) in the car chase on ice

"Some chap" Rudi met at the Hotel Intercontinental during a Rally ;)

Another guy who tried to make his face unrecognisable by some doodling.

Two blokes, always forced to drive around in some sheds, dreaming of once owning such a great car too

N.B. Befor someone starts explaining, of course I know who the guys above are. The nice thing is, to get told all these "behind the scenes" stories 8-)

Yes I am a nerd: I am researching the Austrian Mini-racing scene of the 60s and 70s :ugeek:
