Can anyone identify this guard. It is supposedly an early Special Tuning but who knows

Correct, these kits were sold over the counter by your local BMC/BL dealer

Thank you Dermott. It’s rather heavy so doubt I’ll put it for sale here. Shippings a killer

I've got a couple of those, but they vary slightly for the Moke if I recall correctly?? Any Moke folk clarify perhaps?

Re: Sump Guard Identification
It's not ST it is the optional sump guard, but they were used on some monte cars 65 I think two versions. + the 13 hole
Re: Sump Guard Identification
Technacality Ronne...my point was that is was BMC/BL part...not an aftermarket item
In the early 70's this kit sold over here as 8G8961 for a whopping $20.80.

Re: Sump Guard Identification
It's the Cooper and S optional sump guard, ST is a complete different beast as it extended a cosiderable amount backwards, also they are more desirable than the factory optional one. Not the ST one came in two different versions.
The moke sump guard is the one that had the 13 holes at the front of it.

Both this one & the 13 hole one are available as repros.
Both of which are very good indeed.

These were originally optional factory fit for fleets of mainly Mini Vans bought by the GPO, Electricity and Gas Boards for vehicles operating in rural areas.
