Cleaning and fitting an early visor

Post by 850RS »

I had a project this weekend of getting my sun visors test fitted. I had found one NOS cream crackle visor but wasn’t able to find a second.

When I bought the racecar it had the visor in a box with a bunch of other parts. Lots of grease and years of grime on them but I was determined to try to make one of the old ones work.

I spent about 30 minutes with some dawn power wash and a tooth brush and I was able to get it to clean up pretty well.

Here is the final result. They don’t match perfectly, but they are a better option than the repops that I purchased that are padded.

It may be a few years before I am able to get it out in the sun at the rate I’m going 🤣

Leave the visor outside in the sun for some time?

I cleaned mine like you did, then left them in the sun for about 3 weeks in the summer. They came up a treat.
