Carb float needle replacement for unleaded?
Hi all, I had my August 1960 engine rebuilt and converted to unleaded. I'm no mechanic, but my mechanic pal (who more than helps me out) works on Lambretta Scooters and they have to change the carb float needle when converting to unleaded. He's asked me to ask you experts if it's also the case with the carb float needle on my car. TIA, G.

It depends on the type of Float Needle you have. If it's all brass and not leaking, it'll be fine, if it has a seal on it, it wouldn't be a bad idea to change it and the seat.
The floats also should be changed, the white and translucent white once can get brittle I found, the current ones, which are ethanol friendly, are fine. While it's likely you wont use ethanol fuels, inevitably, some contamination at some point will occur.

Fit the new stay up float and viton tipped float valve. Unleaded has nothing to do with it but ethanol does. Also worth replacing all the fuel pipe with R9 spec along with a replacement ethanol tolerant fuel pump diaphragm. If your jet tubes haven’t been changed, do those too.
Full with E10 and forget worrying about it.
