While not mk1 someone may know.
I'm rebuilding an A+ 1275 which has a pre verto flywheel and starter. The owner recently bought a new starter. I'd like to replace the flywheel with a verto assembly. I realize the ring gear tooth count is different and verto ring gears are thinner than most pre verto flywheels. In my on-hand stock I have thin pre verto ring gears as used on lightened flywheels. The plan is to use the ring gear on a verto wheel and retain his starter and solenoid. Any thoughts? Steve (CTR)

I have done this on my car with no problems.
Just to confirm:
Verto clutch/flywheel
Pre verto (Inertia?) ring gear and starter

I have a power unit on the floor and removed the hat mounted the starter all seemed to clear, Bendix not happy just by hand trying to engage. I thought the thin correct ring would work. good to have a backup story. this will be a quick job so will get back. Steve (CTR)
