Original hand drafted wiring diagram dated 64 states " Double pole 4 position Tok P13-1 7530 A"
The switch supplied to me in 72 by special tuning and the original in my rally wreck :o which are both stamped with their part # (as they were in period) but they don't carry the suffix A shown on the diagram.

You can see it pretty clearly in some of the images in the thread, but what role did the fuel line play when slid over the gear change lever? Vibration damping?

Yes. The build sheet for DJB 92B for the 1966 Circuit of Ireland refers to the old type (with hose) crossed out and the new standard latest type as replacement.

The crossed out entry says: "Old type - fit hose for anti-rattle (check ease of change)."

Interesting that the heat shield entry says: "Fit asbestos to bulkhead under bonnet". How times have changed with greater knowledge of materials.

Yes also healeys used asbestos on the bulkheads, luckily nowadays white cement board does a similar job and is safe to use.
