Hi,
Can anyone tell me how much current the electric fan that is mounted to the passenger inner wing on later Rover minis draws.
Thanks in advance

Re: Spi cooling fan
I don't have the running current data on these, but if it's any help, the fuse for the Fan (and that's all that's on that fuse) is 15 Amp.

Thanks Spider,
Managed to get use of an ammeter,
for future reference if anyone is interested.
Start up between 6.5 and 7A
Running current about 3.9A.

Re: Spi cooling fan
sounds a good choice for dynamo charging systems if it can be fitted easily to early cars, by comparison Kenlowe fans used to draw 20 / 25 amps and Kenlowe don't supply aftermarket fans any longer after buying Pacet who made low draw fans

Re: Spi cooling fan
I fitted the last Rover carb/Spi electric cooling fan to an early Mini inner wing with no problems, just needed to drill the 3 mounting bolt/stud holes, it may have needed 3 spacers on the studs/bolts to make sure the plastic fan blades did not clash with the slots pressed in the inner wing panel (later Minis had a large circular cut-out in the inner wing). I picked mine up s/hand from a Mini show autojumble but Minispares can now supply them new again.
I have mine switched manually for if the temperature rises too high in traffic, it seems to work well and far more comfortable than putting on the heater blower on a hot day!

"This radiator electric fan was fitted as standard on minis with the large round hole cut out in the inner wing fron 1991 on the last carb models through to the SPI but there was an earler type which is no longer available that was on earlier 1275 cooper carb models."
