I was wondering if anyone could clarify that the original fan belt for an 850 A series in a 1966 Mk1 should be a smooth v belt rather than the toothed ones that are available? If so has anyone got any measurements or a supplier of an original ?
Many thanks

Re: Fan belt
As I remember it, all the fan belts back in the day were smooth. The modern belts aren't really toothed (not in the same sense as say a gilmer drive belt) , but they are grooved or notched. The grooves allow the belt to bend more easily. Supposedly they run cooler and quieter, last longer and are less prone to slipping. Apart from appearance (and the grooves aren't really that visisble when fitted) there's no reason to avoid a notched belt.
