Makes no sense....unless it's a classic car restoration by the Bangers & Cash Team TV series which usually pay too much at the auction, spend too much doing up the car, then sell at a loss. eg. Series 1 Land Rover, they bought for £9k, spent £50k on labour, total cost was over £85k. Sold in the end for £40k...

Gambling makes no sense.
Fool with £20 in pocket easily parted buying a ticket to 'win' a mini.
Proves not to be a scam and actually takes keys to a car he never imagined to win. As a consequence has no where to put it (for free) and finds that it doesnt even have sat nav, or parking assist, so is of no practical use at all!. Wife says to just get rid of the thing! Puts it onto some auction/sales site quoting what he was told it cost to restore...

That spec makes little sense for a road car but stripped out would it make a little Hillclimb/sprint rocket?
The engine/transmission alone would be £25k so looks like good value as a competition car if it fits into an appropriate class structure.

Did you spot the local reg Andy?
It seems a shame to win it and be sold on straight away but who knows what the circumstances are behind the decision, I for one would never enter if i had nowhere to keep it and couldnt afford the insurance, I'd just leave it for someone else to potentially enjoy. But not everyone thinks that way.
And i did enter that particular raffle. A tenner i think it was, couple of drinks at the pub isnt it..
I cant see it being used for competition, there's plenty of minis out there on the roads with equally lairy spec sheets, the only way that makes sense financially would be to swap the driveline into an existing built car and sell the green gone on again with some decent spec 'normal' a series.

Fool?
How do you know he has no where to put it?
I’d say in this instance gambling has made perfect sense to the guy that won it.it’s now his car and he can do what he likes with it.good luck to him.

Not seen or heard of the UK Minis site before but interested to know how do they make sure they sell enough tickets to cover their costs and make a profit on each car with a seemingly never-ending line of Minis to be won?
"UKMinis is the UK's leading classic Mini & Mini club, having over 111,000 followers across our social media networks. We are long established and have been running giveaways competitions since May of 2020. Having given away 114 Minis to date plus tones of other prizes such as Swiftune engines, Parts, cash and voucher prizes. So why not get in the mix to be in with the chance of winning an appreciating British classic for a few pounds."

Not very impressed with some of their 'Mini Cooper technical advice blogs though....several of which reminded me of the Monty Python 'Blue Peter - How to Do It' sketch!

Interesting that this started as a late Mk1 shell before restoration but has morphed into a Mk1 / 2 shell during the process! That really is a very obvious and wonky weld on the rear panel suggesting the lower half has been replaced with a Mk2 heritage panel...

Not from me, the recesses for the butterfly fixings are slightly different and not as original. Nice pressing though.Hipwell wrote: ↑Sat Jan 27, 2024 3:01 pm Presumably made from two of Fred’s lids, but interesting non the less.

Anyone know anything about this mk1?
I’m sure it’s not to everyone’s taste but I like it a lot! Needs carpets and door cards though …

Yes in a rolling down a hill in a 45 gallon drum sort of tiresome !!Old English White wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 6:02 pm I imagine that being a lot of fun.........but somewhat tiresome to drive!
But a carpet and door card set and dash padding would make it much more civilised.
I really like the look of it.
Looks like it’s had a lot of money spent on it. Trying to do the man maths right now….

Could do with a boot seal as well…..looks a bit more unfinished rather than light weight, price is optimistic .and.rs1800 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 6:58 pmYes in a rolling down a hill in a 45 gallon drum sort of tiresome !!Old English White wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 6:02 pm I imagine that being a lot of fun.........but somewhat tiresome to drive!

I think it’s been for sale for quite a while-it was 25 grand a while back…Exminiman wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 8:12 pmCould do with a boot seal as well…..looks a bit more unfinished rather than light weight, price is optimistic .and.rs1800 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 6:58 pmYes in a rolling down a hill in a 45 gallon drum sort of tiresome !!Old English White wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 6:02 pm I imagine that being a lot of fun.........but somewhat tiresome to drive!

Hydro dispacer
This is odd, as it's described as new hose fitted, but appears to have an old herringbone type one with new unions.
I'd have thought it would be hard to do without loosing some of the length of the pipe, unless the hose is off a Land Crab or similar?.

Re: WTH??!?! Have you seen this item on ebay.
Looks a bit like mine if I had a spare 15 grand down the back of my sofa to throw at it! Some door cards and a set of overmats would be cool to finish off the interior. One similarity it does seem to share with my car is the odometer appearing to be stuck trying to tick overand.rs1800 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 4:33 pm https://www.carandclassic.com/l/C1679772
