Hi All. i know this appeared on our previous incarnation but can anybody give some more details on the following front end number please:
FE1039747
The figure 4 is a bit unclear but I believe it is from a Cooper S and it would be great if any of you can help. A local guy to me bought a bare shell which appears to be a Cooper (S?) shell and I would like to help him out if possible. Cheers. Mark

Re: Front End Numbers
I don't believe you can be that specific, an FE number (Front End?) can approximately date the shell, but not specify what type of shell.
You need to look at the other identifiers to determine if it is an S or not.
Wheres VDE776 when you need him

Hi Graham in Aus. I think you are probably right but the shell has all the hallmarks of a Cooper or S shell (twin tank mounting points top and bottom, remote, oil cooler position on front panel) This forum and the technical knowledge on it never fails to surprise me so fingers crossed. Cheers. Mark PS Its nearly 30 degrees here. How about that....

Re: Front End Numbers
Graham is right, the FE Number can be used to date a shell but at that time (Q3 1966) it could be a Riley Elf, Pick-Up, Van or any other variant.
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who do not possess it.
