EDV 32C or The one that got away....Twice!!

Post by coopertim »

Hi all
This car EDV 32C was my first taste of Cooper motoring. I was told of the car in 1996 by a friend of my dads. EDV was stored in an old Fire Station just up the road from me.

Its the same old story.....I saw it, loved it, bought it......all in the same day! As you will see in the photos, the condition of this one family owned Cooper was outstanding.

This is how EDV looked before restoration began. I had added Minilites and Motolita at this stage.

The car was featured in the March 1997 edition of Mini Magazine before restoration. When we stripped it, we could not believe how good this little car was!

Hi Jens

EDV was in fantastic condition when i bought it back in 1996. On the day that i went to see it, i decided to change my lottery numbers and so i added 9+9+8, 10+7+1 etc and added 32 to the list. That night i got 5 numbers and won £1000 so i was able to buy the car!

I kept EDV until 1999 when i displayed it at the NEC Classic Car Show. A farmer wanted to buy the car for his wife and as i was under threat of redundancy, reluctantly i decided to sell. EDV then went down to Essex - as it turned out for five years of free storage as in 2004 i recieved a letter from him saying that the Cooper was for sale if i wanted it for what i sold for in 1999!

EDV came back to Lincolnshire having covered 100 miles and i owned it for another 3 years when after a long spell of not being used, i made the hard decision to sell once more as the cash would be better used in our family. The Cooper was despatched oooop north to Darlington where the immaculate brocade interior was removed immediately and a Newton one was fitted. EDV then disappeared until 2010 when it reappeared on Ebay with a reserve of £15000!

I got in touch with the man selling the car and he said that the car had been sat in a millionaires private collection after being won in a charity auction.

EDV 32C now lives in Luxemtbourg and has an easy life......but you never know, one day maybe! ;)

It will be good to catch up Nev! Will you be going to Brockenhurst on the Saturday night?

Instead of doing the lotto you could always sell AKY back to me!! ;)
