Mini Cooper press launch

Post by Tomas Karlsson »

I just read an article in a Swedish magazine from August 1961 about the Mini Cooper press launch. It doesn't say when it was. Anyone who knows?
According to the article it took place at "Snake Circuit test track outside of London". Where could that be?
It also says that racing drivers Bruce McLaren, Graham Hill, Wolfgang von Trips and Jo Bonnier was there and "staged an improvised race" with the cars!!
I suppose there must have been something in the British press too. I would love to know more.

Great! Thanks! Two days after the British GP. I suppose the "Snake circuit" was the track with all the curves.

I have one of the Pewter Tankards given out on the day to those attending the launch. Not sure how many race drivers and friends or press were there on the day. My late father was there and i have his tankhard. I rang John Cooper in the early 90's about it but he could not recall how many were made or given away.
