It never ceases to amaze me the innovative repairs that are carried out on Minis.
That particular area is prone to serious rusting so it's no wonder the roof was flexing.

Yes I also saw some good "repairs" before, on other Mini,s but these were really something extra

If it hadnt been for those homemade 1.2mm sills, she would have broken in 2.
They carried all the load, and kept the front & rear together.

My FE number starts with 37 73 later I learned that it didnt mean the date

Just need to do the upper window frame, and close a couple of holes.
These were for the battery cut off switch.
No rubber grommets just fat live cables, straight through the metal

I started removing all the paint, on the car, this was not your average thin coat

It had more than a "skim coat" of "bondo" trying to keep it all together

Some places we restored, had 12 to 14mm thick layers of plastic padding

Thats why I wanted to take the rest of the body back to bare metal.

Yes that was exactly what I thought, especially with all those "alternative" repairs

great before & after pictures and an important part of the restoration

Hence why I took so many.

Back in the early days, when I restored cars, didnt I take any photos, and that really bugs me now

Yes all was that bad, the only 2 parts that didnt have any welding done to them, was the rear parcel shelf & rear bulkhead,
every other panel on the whole car, had repairs done.

Floor finished, which meant we could move it to the lift.

New metal made & welded in, for heater air intake, parts of the parcel shelf also rebuilt.





Paint removal in engine bay, and new proper ground connector for wiring loom welded into innerwing.




The repositioned/extended engine mountplate also visible.

On the back of subframe, is the cutout for the Turbo downpipe.

All paint now removed, from the body.








Genuine 1275GT export boot lid.




Front end getting cleaned, and the final bits welded up, incl a NOS lower front panel.

A series 1

Yes the Mini body is a 1967 MK I, it has new front floorpans - wings - Apanels - upper & lower sills -
rear hingepanel - rear valance - outer part of boot floor - scuttle panel corners - front (correct type) incl its body no, that was removed from the old front.

If you look infront/behind the WP, you can see the rest of the White Amazon.
Its a 1970 (June) = 6 weeks before production stopped = very high chassi no.
