Tins,Jars & Cans.
Another thread got me thinking about my various old Tin collection .. so my favorite is an OXO Tin made of Aluminium maybe it is late 50,s to early 1960,s .. anyone here an expert on Tins ?

I do love an old tin.
My favourites are the old Huntley & Palmer 2 lb & 1lb biscuit tins like this.
If the labels have dropped off, they are worth nowt, but still really useful in the shed.

I really like them as well, I have a few dotted around inc the odd protype....my Grandad may well of designed the tooling for the Huntley and Palmer one
I believe all H&P tins were made and printed by Huntley Bourne and Stevens.....http://biag.org.uk/hbs-tin-makers/The tins were a game changer for H&P and allowed them to ship the biscuits all around the world...

......thanks, but not too much of a surprise really as Reading was known for the three Bs (Biscuits Bulbs and Beer...) an awful lot of people were involved in these three industries then - virtually none now though

Metal box of Mansfield , made lots of these , i contracted there in the 70s , mainly women on the shop floor. nice tin car , one for Adam

Metal Box with factories at Carlisle (we used to play sports against their apprentices...), HullActon, Mansfield Newcastle on Tyne and N-13, London were big biscuit and baccy tin makers. We used to get spare parts intheir small - and large - tins. All had the MBCo logo on them. The rifle cleaning kit tins from 1940 to 1980 were all MBCo....... until they went to plastic

Maybe someone could put a date...ish on these items.
They were passed down through my family...two lovely old bicycle lamps....one on the right is definitely a war time item...came to me in the box on the right.
