Not Tiger Tim, SOH 956H and SOH 886H and probably SOK 94H at the back of the line

Might anyone know where I could find images of F. E. Cox of Keighley - used to have a large clock overhanging the road....

I tried to find out about Cox of Keighley for many years ! as they were the supplying dealers responsible
for the Oyler Contessa range of Coachbuilt Minis .

I no longer own the Contessa, so the interest is gone! I think that Contessa Cars were built from
the early 70s for about 6 years until Oyler went bust along with Holmfry Carpets the parent company.

I am looking at my heritage cert for my '60 mini which I have restarted restoring and it was delivered to B. S. Gelston & Co. Ltd, Dartford, Kent.

Does anyone recall the dealer or perhaps have any information on it? It seems to have disappeared.

I have spoken to bmcman.ie as I had seen he had posted a comment about Dartford and worked close by.

Thanks Angus

HA Saunders in Nth Finchley/Whetstone was my old garage, the parts man 'Nick' was always such a helpful soul, and it was the garage that Keith Dodd worked for before starting up Mini Spares....

Pete - this has become one of my favourite sections of the forum and such a reminder of that golden period of the UK being a world leader in automobile manufacture. What stands out to me is the architecture and how personal a garage would be and pretty much still in the High Street.

I do recall my father having a Jack Brabham conversion carried out on his Triumph Herald - he had two, the early one was 900 something cc which I think he fitted a supercharger to and had a fibre pulley which gave up the ghost on the M1! and the second was a 1200 which is the car I think had the Brabham conversion.

This would have been 1961 or 2 and there was great excitement on picking up the car at the end of the week, we arrived and met the great man only to discover that my father had left his cheque book at home! Fortunately he discovered a discarded unused cheque in his right hand pocket (incorrect date written in for example) and the great man accepted it and the crisis passed.....
