A Downton Cooper S motor modified to look like a small bore 998.

Very rare and valuable.

I have contacted the seller and he's a nice enough chap, just doesn't know much about what he's selling. It's a 1098 engine but unfortunately he bought it as a 1071 (ebay 2 years ago) and so he's convinced that's what it is................

Mmm not sure about that, if you look on his previous sales (the carbs, via his feedback) he suggests that the engine was his Grandad's :roll:

Yes, definately a sticker on the speedo face, the numbers are more bold on the stickers than a real one.

That is one Fecking expensive 1098!

Nice original badge though.

But my favourite bit of this thread is this total gibberish;

hear we have a set of clocks and switch panil with key i wos gowing to put in my pickup but got set of 3 clocks now so nead to go so i can get other bits

It absolutely staggers me that our schools can produce people who have such a tenuous grasp of the English language!

i agree
when i was at school,we got the cane for stepping out of line !!

i was unfortunate to get cought,erm,, "fondling" and swiftly got 6 lashings of the cane and my hand was 12 inches in diameter for a month with the swelling!!

what annoys me nowadays is the swarms of kids on the streets at lunchtime,hurling food at road users and blocking up "tesco express" fuel stations buying thier "so called"dinners while the petrol buying motorists have to form an 800 yard queue down the road,cos 180 youths have filled the petrol station to bursting point

we had to either eat school meals/pack up or the chosen few who went home had to be approved by headmaster via letters to and from the respective parents...

the chav culture is upon us...even the police are scared..

He's now added - 'just to add yes the loom is new and i now have over 45 whaches'.

How does anyone spell watchers like that, unless of course he's playing dumb?

I PM'd the seller pointing out the error of his ways, not his appalling spelling but his mis description of the engine, I received the following back;

i no its not a 1070 short stoke engin its a 1098 cc i have a 1070 engine if want to buy it also downton have done work to this engine as the old boy who just lives round the corner and i seen pic of the engine in the car so it is what it is the carb in the pic is off a 850 as i sold the h4 1"/12 twin carbs last week on hear so come and have a look if no anything i dont no thanks jimmy and wood not split the rocker cover from its engin

Even allowing for the almost unintelligible spelling & grammar it looks to me like the whole ebay add could be a lure to sell another engine he may or may not have.

Which ever way you look at it the whole thing stinks.
