Brook is right. Best to make up your own. Woolies offer a limited colour-range of reproduction "Karvel" carpet by the meter, which includes red. It is a good copy of the original fitted up to late 1965. You can now even buy a good reproduction of the rubber heel-pad originally fitted to the driver's side - many of the repro made-up carpet sets incorrectly fit pads (plastic) to both sides of the floor.

Thanks Garry. I am after a better carpet than my Newtons and the second heelmat always looks odd. Would you happen to know how many metres of Karvel would be needed for a Mini floor area?

Cheers. Mark

I have never understood why Newton made carpet with two heel mats.
If you ask, they will supply you a carpet with only one on. ( If the carpet type is what you wanted )

Better to ask them to leave the heel mats out totally and then stitch a proper style one in.

Hi Mark,
To get all the lines in the carpet running in the correct direction and to carpet the boot board I am told you would need between three and a half to four meters. I haven't had time to measure my carpets, I am afraid but that quantity sounds right.
BAS International do the correct heel-pads, they may even supply the Karvel carpet too.

Are BAS International not the people who used to be The British Mini Company who did the best ever velour carpet sets but got out once Newtons came on the scene.

Mark is correct that BAS were the British Mini Co, they list the bulk wool carpet they used to sell and Karvel carpet, but limited colours in Karvel, and no velour type listed on their website,

Bryan Purves stocks red & black Karvel carpet sets. I would expect the quality to be excellent...

Mark,
Your car would have had veltone carpet originally,it's like a long pile velour/velvet with rubber backing. Pretty sure no-one makes anything like it now(unless someone knows and is keeping schtum !). So,ring round get some samples and yer pays yer money ....
I've used Coverdale and Newton C before and they'll both sew in an original mat and delete the passenger side one. You can also get the mats here :-
