Age related number plate

Post by 850 super deluxe »

Hi all, could someone point me in the right direction for searching for an original number or age related plate. My car is a november 62 and at some point in its life the original number has been sold on, it now sits on a AFD 802A number and im trying to find the original plate or a suitable age related plate, i would prefer the original plate obviously , im guessing my only option is to take all the documents i have for my car to the dvla local office and speak to them, I have had my heritage cert through and there is no extra info about the car that i didnt already know. Would it be a 3 letters and 3 number plate or a 2 letter and 4 number plate :?: :?: :?: :?:

Any advise appreciated Paul.

If the number has been stripped of your car so it can be sold it is unlikely that the DVLA will give you details of the current owner. I assume you have done a number plate search on the Reg Transfer companies web sites to see if it is available.

If you don't know what the originl number was then the easiest way to find out, assuming the car has been continually registered is to write to the DVLA "Information from records dept"

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/Ow ... DG_4022067

With a bit of luck you will send off a fiver & receive copies of all the log books that your car ever had along with the details of all previous owners.

If you are just after a non age related plate then its just a case of choosing an earlier number than your cars build date, paying your money & getting it transfered over.

I hope that at least some of this is useful.

Regards,

Mark

I had an early 1960 Mini with an A plate because a previous owner had sold the original number, as far as I remember my application for an age related number with 3 letters and 3 numbers (no suffix) did not cost anything and was a fairly painless process.

in the 80s i had a 61 with an "a" plate cos it was robbed of its valuable number- 61ML

i applied for an age related number circa 1990 and was given one without a problem back in those days..

strangely GVS339 ( was AAL440A before age related issue) is still on dvla computer even though i KNOW the car doesnt exist anymore...

its probably screwed on a 1991 mini studio 2 or something-
for my sins,i own a 1957 wolsleley 1500
