Straighten a boot board
Ok, my boot board has a decent bow in it (previous owner carried his wages on it!!) anyone ever had to straighten one out… I’m thinking just slowly applying weights over time in a nice damp garage…
Cheers
Kevin

Re: Straighten a boot board
Peel the carpet/vinyl off (held down by peripheral staples), cut a nice new piece of marine ply, re-apply original covering defy anyone attempting to claim its no longer original,

take the carpet covering off then wet the board, prop it upside down with 4 bricks under each corner, then put a heavvy object (or another 4 bricks) in the center. Keep wetting it. after a week take everything off, let it dry as it stands and it should have flattened out.

Re: Straighten a boot board
A suitable off-cut of marine ply and your existing carpet should be a cheaper solution than the Minispares boot boards...

Re: Straighten a boot board
Id be careful with 'marine ply' some may be suitable for a life on the ocean wave, but I've never found commercially available stuff up to being burried or permanently wet. I've supplied floorboards for vintage through to replacements for modern spare wheel well covers. My go to product is tricoya, an engineered wood base product, it just isn't bothered by damp/wet conditions - ever. But perhaps it's not so eco as real wood. However there is the advantage of only doing the job once and forget.
