Re: old garages
1st Mini in Chipping Campden sold by the garage not in 1959 as first thought as Bill Bell has pointed out it is a 1961 car. Garage still operated by the family on the site after > 100 years but the building has been converted to house shop units.

An MG Metro at Cutts
Little bit of history here

Eventually they went changed to a Ford Franchise.
The building is in the yard behind the Red Lion pub.

Re: old garages
No Pete, that is Morris Garages in St. Aldates Oxford. The modified building is now the Oxford Court building and quite often shown on TV when a prominent court case is ongoing. I remember going there there regularly to collect and deliver cars and parts in years gone by. It was a grand place!
That is a great photo and the MG1100 is wearing a local Oxford registration number from, I think, 1962. It looks to be a LHD export model doesn't it?

Re: old garages
Here you go, think this is it, who would think a building would evolve from a garage to a court building !Old English White wrote: ↑Tue Jan 03, 2023 8:37 amNo Pete, that is Morris Garages in St. Aldates Oxford. Re: old garages
That is indeed the present Court building and former Morris Garages. It was built in the 1930s and had a lift on the ground floor to hoist cars up to the upper floor service departments! The parts dept. was at the rear and I was a frequent visitor. The staff wouldn't serve you unless you could quote the chassis number of the car in question. I had an MG Midget in the 1970s and the chassis number - GAN4 54403 - is still imprinted on my brain from all those years ago - although I have trouble remembering my date of birth or mobile telephone number nowadays!

Actually top end of Dukes Ride in Crowthorne.
Used to get most of my parts from there.
Had a great team on the service reception and always helpful.
Now long gone sadly.

My mother purchased a metro from AC Barnes and was the first time I had seen the then new KV6 engine in a Rover 825.
