Ken Friend & Ron Lockwood ('65 Countryman) came home 1st in Class followed by yours truly & Micke Pettersson ('73 Aussie Window Van) on completion of the ALCAN 2022 Summer Rally.
10 days +5,000 Miles, hundreds of miles on gravel/dirt. Started in Seattle, Wash. north to Dawson City, Yukon, south/north/east to Yellowknife, Northwest Territory and south to the Finish in Jasper, Alberta.
After being sick from Day 3 to Day 10 - didn't get to see a Doctor until 2 days after the event concluded - I've decided to retire. It's a younger person's game...in an old vehicle.
Next Summer ALCAN I'll be 83, if still on this old planet.

Re: 2022 ALCAN 5000 Summer Rally
You might notice that each Mini has 4 fuel cans on top. That was to ensure we could make it from Fort Nelson, BC to Fort Providence/Big River Services on the Mackenzie River in the Northwest Territory. We could not expect the Rally to supply us.
The standard LWB tank holds some 6 Imp. Gallons/27 Litres. We had 9 Imp. Gal./40 Litres on top as we could not be sure of fuel availability on route. The Rally support team had fuel for the Cycles as they could not carry enough fuel to make the crossing.
As it turned out, there was fuel available at Fort Liard but we still had to tap our extra fuel to get across the Liard Trail to the River...and the Cycles still needed Rally supplied fuel taken on at Checkpoint, NT.

Awesome effort. Next year you’ll be able to sit at a checkpoint with a beer and tell them they’re doing it wrong! Fab photo of the two Minis.

That is an epic rally! Very cool to see a couple classic minis participating.
