Re: 1961 Beach Car prototype restoration
This is a question to LHD early mk1 Mini owners.
The brake and clutch lines run along parallel under the speedo hole.
Are there some sort of fasteners to keep them secure against the bulkhead, and where do they go.
I bought a two metal clamps as used in later Minis but cannot see any holes for them.
Any ideas?

Hi Ronie, congratulations for your amazing car!
There are normally two fasteners wiches hold the two pipes.
They are bolted to the two lower screws that hold the dashboard plastic surround (use two screws slightly longer than the others).
Once thoses two screws exceed from the bulkhead panel, you can easily fix the fasteners!
Here, I hope this help

A picture is worth a thousand words, so here it goes:
This is from a friend of mine and it's pretty much the correct routing, although the clips that hold the pipes should be the 21A64 instead of the 2H400 type.
Have a look at this, it may help too: http://forum.minicooper.org/showthread.php?t=14412

Re: 1961 Beach Car prototype restoration
Thank you Ricardo. I sorted it. I could only find the later type of clips, so I used them.
I finally got it back from the chrome guy. The grille is fairly pitted and there was nothing he could do about it, and the surround has a little pitting on the lower side.
I guess I was lucky enough the parts were fitted to the car, so I should not complain about their condition.....
The engine is also moving along, at snail pace.....

Re: 1961 Beach Car prototype restoration
Big day today. I picked up the finished engine last night (around 22:30!!) and and took it to my garage this morning. The Car and its motor had been apart for nearly a year.
I did some reshuffling of the cars in the garage and took the opportunity to photograph the car.
The engine will now be de-greased and then painted BMC Green, before being fitted to the car.

If I was single, I would be living there. My pregnant wife does't like it as a home. Can't understand why?AndyB72 wrote:Great photos, I reckon I could live in your garage!!
