1275 GT thread

Would it be sacrilegious to drop a 1275 S motor into my GT and store the GT motor one side perhaps?

I have an almost complete 1275 S motor I'm considering building up and putting in my GT for some better power and then just not letting a nice motor go to waste. Currently don't own a MK1, which i would love to build as a replica perhaps with either my 1071 motor or 1275 S motor, just need to find a MK1 now.

No not sacrilegious, if you look at the photo of my GT engine you can see the two extra studs, the only problem I had fitting it was the fact my GT was a rod change so I did not want the hassle of chopping the tunnel to get the remote in, far as I know the gearboxes were the same. It had S brakes and rear drums as STD.

Luckily in South Africa, we only had the GT manufactured from 1970 to early 1973 and as far as I know, all had remote boxes. Mine has a remote gearbox, so will be easily dropped in, although at this stage I only have a bare casing, need all the internals

I also forgot about the Drive shafts, the output on the S gearbox is a hardy spicer joint where as the GT had the STD rubber thing or if later a pot joint. I ended up using Q&H joints which worked fine though I did have to beef up the engine steady underneath
