This home movie, part of the Kim Dowe collection, features highlights from a day of racing at the Silverstone circuit in the early 1960s.
Action from various classes of racing are shown, beginning with a sports car class that features racing models by Ferrari, Morgan and Porsche, amongst others.
A series of open-wheel formula racing classes are also shown, followed by a hectic saloon class race in the wet, which features a Mini driver losing control, and a tight battle between another Mini and a Ford Zephyr.

That was John Whitmore's 997 with the tank slapper and John Love battling with Peter Harper's Sunbeam.Brief glimpse of the celeb Mini race on there also. Actually I have made a number of total f**k ups in the past. I remember a nice photo of Bruce McLaren I printed in glorious colour with an Almond green Cooper a while back and thought it was a press call at Aintree. Not even the right continent !
I've got an absolute mountain of previously unprinted stuff to print in the MCR mag over the next..er..few years, some really nice shots with some great back stories. It's amazing just how many characters raced or rallied a Mini at one time or another.
