Mini Cooper Register Northumberland Borders Rally Saturday 19th November

On offer are around ten Special Tests on private ground and a ‘half night’ 90 – mile navigational rally, starting from, and finishing at, The Hog’s Head Inn in Alnwick.

For those not familiar with the event, it will consist of three classes – Novice, Semi- Expert (formerly known as Newcomer) and Expert.

Navigation for the novices will consist of map extracts with both the route and all the controls marked on them. Map extracts will also form part of the route instructions for the Semi Experts along with other traditional forms of navigation such as tulips, spot heights, grid lines and descriptives, etc., that the Experts will have. Examples of the navigation used can be found on the ‘Downloads’ page of the rally website: www.northumberlandbordersrally.co.uk

Entry fees, excluding rally insurance, are a very reasonable £75 for Novices and £95 for both Semi Expert and Expert crews. Entry fees also include an evening meal at the rally start/finish venue – The Hog’s Head Inn in Alnwick, where there is accommodation, ample parking for trailers and easy access to the A1.

The first car will be away from the start at 11.30am and finish before 10pm, with a rest break in between.

It will be interesting to see how Paul Crosby goes in his freshly restored cooper S with smmc 8 port.
He’s successful in Porsche’s but now driving a vehicle with the engine and drive at the correct end

Indeed, and I’m looking forward to seeing the car as it looks a lot different to when I last saw it close up, which was on the lummies when it was surf blue/white and in Geoff Hall’s hands!
