Some screenshots from the BBC video of the engine unit being lowered into John Rhodes race Mini at Abingdon.

Looking at the big BL badge under the drivers name, that is probably the Goup 5 Mk2 bodied LBL606D that was used in the 1969 BSCC. That car is driven into the workshop before the engine film sequence.

Quite impressive how much of the 8-porter's power those narrow wheels (aka "tarmac grinders") get to the ground.mab01uk wrote: ↑Wed Sep 07, 2022 8:38 pm Paddy Hopkirk and Timo Makinen demonstrating controlled skids at Pukekohe, New Zealand:-

Sadly BBC does not allow us bloody foreigners to watch the video anybody got that as a Youtube link?
Yes I am a nerd: I am researching the Austrian Mini-racing scene of the 60s and 70s

That link goes to the same youtube video in NZ that I originally posted, which I think MiNiKiN can already see ok.Ronnie wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 9:31 amTry this link > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AQCFoW ... nel=SpudmnMiNiKiN wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 9:16 amQuite impressive how much of the 8-porter's power those narrow wheels (aka "tarmac grinders") get to the ground.mab01uk wrote: ↑Wed Sep 07, 2022 8:38 pm Paddy Hopkirk and Timo Makinen demonstrating controlled skids at Pukekohe, New Zealand:-

Re: Mini Spinner Demonstration - Paddy Hopkirk & Timo Makinen (Oct 1965)
I've had a customer in my shop that says he owns the car in video. Whether that's true or not who knows. I often get older customers telling me that were there the "mini spinning day".
On a side note Pukekohe Park Raceway had it's final race meeting ever held last weekend. End of an era.
The land is owned by Counties Horse Racing Club Inc who have decided to focus activities back towards horse racing, or at least that's the official line, so track is going. Truth be told they will probably sell off a chunk of the land for housing. Time will tell I guess.

Yes, quite sad really. Pukekohe will still be used for this years club season but it will it’s last. The weekend was the last time Supercars will race there. To be fair, I think next seasons gen 3 cars will be a bit much for the ole girl.
Farewell Pukekohe, I still loves ya.
