Restoration standstill... ugh, may need new shell, help pls!

Post by max-o-matic »

Hi everyone,
it's been a while since i've logged on, but I still look the site up every now and again..
my restoration project has come to a pretty pitiful standstill: I was planning on getting the bodywork done over the summer, but never got around to it for lack of time/energy/you name it... and now that I'm back in school, things are even slower... I've come to the conclusion that I needed to have the bodywork done professionally, and got a couple new quotes by sending pictures to different places, some of which never even answered.. It seems no one can figure out why I'd want to salvage the shell I do have considering all the work, and suggests I find a new one.. The tiny problem is that I live in France, and Mk1 shells aren't exactly laying on every street corner here, so I was wondering if you guys would have any leads on where to find one? I know there are a couple french people on the forum, but I can't seem to remember their names, so if anyone from the mainland is reading this and can help out, either with a quote for bodywork, or a new shell, I would be tremendously grateful.. If anyone over on your side of the channel has a shell they're not sure what to do with, please let me know also...

when I initially got this car, my sister talked me into a saloon, but what I really wanted was a traveller/countryman, so I'd be interested in any of those too...

thanks so much for any help you can give me, I don't want this to turn into another abandoned project!!
