Guessing this carpet came Nick, any comments?
Yes looks good, in fact it looks almost identical to the 90s rerun from British car carpets, like I have in KNU.
Not sure it's as well cut out though from the set I've seen fitted.
But I believe you can just by the carpet and cut and stitch it your self.

On reading this carpet enquiry thread i am a bit puzzled? I realise its a while ago now (2018) and things may have changed since, but when I stumbled on this BAS company last year while searching for a Cumulus Grey matched carpet for my Island Blue/OEW "S" they said they didn't do a light grey? They sent me samples of Red, Black, and a "wheat" colour (for lack of a more precise colour name) which did look very original in texture and colour to original veltone finish, but no good for me so I gave them to a friend to compare with Newton samples he had, which I understand he is now ordering (a red set) for his Tartan Red/Black car.
So where to from here? VERY difficult to source rubber backed light/blue-grey colour for a decent match here. Newton Stock grey is too dark and makes the interior look very heavy. I have seen a nicely restored Island Blue UK "S" in a car magazine here in NZ which had a carpet set that was very close to the Blue/Grey s  eat trim on this (IB-OEW) colourway and it looked lovely, but where in the world do I find this 13,000kms away in New Zealand. I had a pair of nice new bumpers sent to me wrapped up in a rubber backed carpet which was LIght Grey from an on-line Auction purchase, which would do at a pinch, but the seller now residing in UK can't now remember where he got it from!!!!
So ANY HELP would be greatly appreciated. Would someone in a related car club have a contact? Like the UK Morris Minor club? I would be happy to buy off the roll and have them made up here to try and keep costs down as by the time you buy Newton stuff and freight it to NZ you could put it towards another car!!

About ready to purchase BAS carpet set
- 1966 Austin Cooper S
- LHD
- body # 055836
- Almond Green / Old English White

Just want confirmation that I am making the correct selections.

According to AKD3510 the carpet color should be Grey or Cumulus Grey.

The detail listings indicate a Dark Grey was available on LHD only while Cumulus Grey was available on LHD and RHD.

BAS has a Light Grey and Dark Grey. The photo below shows these samples along with a
Sample of my original “faded” carpet. All samples are sitting on my original boot board.
Not sure the color of my original carpet.

C9E6D18F-E330-402A-A1CF-0A619F3E07D2.jpeg

The Parnell book indicates the boot board was normally covered in Cumulus Grey (p. 22) and the Cumulus Grey carpet
replaced the wool twist in NOV 1965 (45157).

BAS has two heel pads.
According to AKD3510 (see detail listing above) the heel pad ADA3779 was from 101 to 46931 approx.
So ... I assume this is the early Mk I so I will need the Late Mk I / Mk II.

I would be interested in seeing pictures of any cars with my same color scheme to determine if I should go
Light Grey or Dark Grey.

As always your feedback is appreciated.

You need the dark grey carpet in your car.

I supplied the sample for matching :D

Whilst the light grey carpet supplied by BAS is very nice & was the best version available at one time. The dark they offer is a pretty damn close match to your original carpet, as demonstrated by the match to your boot board & faded original.

All Veltone supplied by BMC was the dark colour.

Re mats, your assumption is correct, you should have the "boring" striped mat not the nice early one :)

Just ordered the dark grey carpet with the “boring” striped mat for my 1966 Austin Cooper Almond Green / OEW.

When the carpet is in the looooong reconstruction will be complete!

I will post pictures at that time.

Thanks Mark for your input/feedback ... always appreciated.

Just received my dark grey BAS carpet set.
Can someone post pictures of their BAS carpet installed?
Particularly like to see the various seems, sill views, gear shift, cut-outs, etc.

Also they sent the plastic seat strips for the rear carpet.
How are these Rivets (?) installed?

Any tips would be appreciated.

Mine is a 1966 “S”, LHD, remote shift.

Not got any pics of mine at the moment, but the fitting is pretty self explanatory. Re sills, fit the side carpet first, you will probably have to trim it to fit just right round the crossmember, then try the inner wheel arch piece & trim the front edge of the sill piece to suit. You should have a clean butt joint between the two pieces that is pretty much invisible. Where the door check strap goes, just punch holes in the carpet for the screws. The carpet doesn't go under the door seals, it just butts up.

The reason the seat rest wear strips aren't fitted is because they need fitting in line with your seat's back legs. They are just riveted through the carpet, usually there are some bifurcated rivets supplied. Just push them through & bend the tags over.

Need help with how to deal with the BAS carpet.

This is the first time I am installing Mini carpet so I can not compare BAS to other suppliers.
Before I ruin my carpet I want to provide a few observations and ask a few questions,

- I am surprised with the amount of trimming that will be required.
Area along sill, area around wheel well, steering wheel column and dip switch.
The very top piece that goes behind the pedals on the bulkhead has no cutouts at all!
Is all this normal?

- when installing carpet on top of shift gaiter the carpet flops around. Just came from a car show where most minis
had the gaiter on top holding down the carpet which looks much better since the carpet is held in place. Is there any
good way to “teach” the carpet to fit over the tunnel better?

- carpet and backing is too thick to apply carpet clips. I would need to trim about 1” of the jute backing to reduce
thickness. this is not easy to do. I used a utility knife and a beard trimmer. A sharp knife can too easily pierce the carpet!
What is the recommended way to install clips in this carpet? Below are pictures of my efforts. You can see the points of
clips compared to the thickness of the carpet.

Yes, yours sounds pretty standard. A lot of trimming & faffing about is always required.

I put the carpet clips in using a press. I mark where the prongs go through, make small cuts with a scalpel where they go & then use a press or "G" clamp to push the spikes through. Seems to work OK for me.

It is a horrible job, but the finished result makes it worth using. Only time will help it fall correctly around the gear lever & starter hump.

Thanks Mark. I appreciate the encouragement. Just need to work up the courage to make the first cut and punch the first hole! I will post my progress.

Carpet is in ... almost!

Still need to install the ...
... plastic strips in back for front seats
... carpet clips (still searching for original brass spikes)

The right front floor piece (right sill) did not require trimming.
The left front floor piece and rear floor piece (both sides) required trimming.
The sill pieces them selves also required quite a bit of trimming.

Once you make the first hole or cut to goes fairly quick ... just need the courage (or a few beers) to do the first one!

Thanks all !
