I like the integrated arches on that! And I agree it could make a great hillclimber or basis for a car for FMITW.
Of course I know what a dipstick is, you get called something often enough you look it up!

Not sure what class it would have to run in if you hillclimbed it.
And I bet if you were to put it on the scales it wouldn't be much lighter than a steel car.
Still, an interesting thing though.

Your bet would be right Mark , pretty sure I’ve read the GRP minis built in Chile and Venezuela were actually heavier than a steel bodied car , with very thick panels .And I bet if you were to put it on the scales it wouldn't be much lighter than a steel car.

That (optimistically priced) Phoenix used to be mine. I ran it as a daily for about three years with a 1071 motor.
It weighs pretty much the same as a normal mini and the fibreglass quality is not great! It's also quite bendy, if you jack it up on either subframe the doors won't shut/open.
I absolutely loved it though, had to drastically thin out the fleet last year so I sold it to a mate for £300 - not the guy selling it now.

I've had chrome ones too. However they weren't intended for the mini but Hornet or Elf from what I've gathered. This one is quite bent thoughExminiman wrote: ↑Mon Jun 06, 2022 12:23 pm Thought early gearsticks were not Chromed, or until 64 ?

That looks a bargain. It is a German market car with non-opening door quarters and the special type arches. If anyone goes to see it make sure you check the chassis number is stamped on the right-side inner wing.WMU 211G wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 2:25 pm Tidy '74 Innocenti Cooper, needs work though....

I rather fancy this already modified '65 Mk1 too, might seem a bit pricey but it's exactly the sort of thing I'd like to do using a Mk1 as a blank canvas...

(I'd rather pick a mid period Mk1 to start with than a '59 or '60 etc)
