MkII Morris Cooper

This is my first post, hello everyone. Here are some details of my MkII Cooper restoration. I have owned the car for 21 years, the body was never very good, with previous bodgery in the usual places. However after I rebuilt the engine and transmission my brother and I took it on the MiniMonte in 96 then I used it frequently for around 5 years. Work relocation meant it had to be stored for the next 15 years, deteriorating as would be expected over time. So last year I embarked on the restoration. Iain Crockett of MiniMart in Fife (http://www.minimart-gateside.co.uk/) did a superb job with the shell. A complete flor pan and boot flor along with usual front/side/rear panels meant only the roof, pillars and bulkhead remained of the original. While the shell was away I stripped the subframes and refurbished/replaced all parts. I left the engine as I know this to be fine from my previous rebuild. I'm currently (slowly) re-assembling everything and hope to be on the road this spring. You can check out the pictures on the following link :

There was a lot of fresh air left in that shell, your guy has done a tremendous job with that and someone has been really busy with the running gear. Do you have the original interior and is it re-usable.

Thats going to be a cracking motor when it finished, lucky chap.

Thanks Pete. There's a lot of work in the shell for sure. I could have sourced another shell but this way I know 100% what I have. I refurb'd the running gear myself, happy with the end result (using POR15 mainly). Most of the interior has already been replaced in the past but still to original spec'. The headlining and front door cards are prbably the only original trim left. Looking forward to completing it and getting it back on the road, it's been a long wait!!!

Ian's done a lovely job on your car. Looking forward to seeing it out and about in the Granite City. I'll keep my eyes peeled when I'm up there.

This is really taking me a lot longer than planned. Mainly due to only being able to spend a couple of hours on it each weekend. It's running though, mainly trim/windows to do now. Made the mistake of stripping the headlining from the frames, really struggling to get the new material on correctly now, wish I had just left it.

Finished at last. Thanks to Iain (Minimart) for all the hard work on the shell and to my old dad for letting me occupy a space in the workshop for so long.
